Native PIM Integrations for Faster Catalog Production

Native integrations are built-in connectors developed in partnership with PIM or other data providers. They handle data synchronization, asset delivery, and document triggering through a standardized, tested pipeline, no custom development required.

Pre-Built vs Custom Integrations: Key Differences

Custom integrations solve any problem. But when your PIM already has a native connector with Pagination, setup is faster, maintenance is simpler, and data flows out of the box. Both approaches get your data into InDesign. The difference is how you get there.

  Native Integration Custom Integration
Setup Pre-built connector: configure and go Custom development per project
Maintenance Jointly maintained by Pagination and the PIM partner Maintained by Pagination for your specific setup
Data sync Standardized sync protocol (push or pull) Tailored to your export format and triggers
Flexibility Covers standard use cases Handles any edge case or multi-source scenario
Best for Teams that want fast, reliable PIM-to-print automation Teams with complex, multi-system environments

If your workflow involves a single PIM as the main data source and your catalog structure is relatively standard, a native connector is the fastest path to automated catalog production. If the project requires merging multiple systems, applying complex business logic, or handling non-standard data formats, a custom integration is the better fit.

What a Pre-Built Connector Includes

Regardless of which PIM or system you use, every native integration with Pagination includes:

  • Direct data sync: product attributes, images, and pricing flow into Pagination without manual export or intermediate files.
  • Attribute mapping: your PIM fields are mapped to InDesign template placeholders through a guided configuration.
  • Scheduled runs: automate nightly or weekly sync so your catalogs always reflect the latest product data.
  • Channel-based publishing: configure separate Pagination channels for different document types (catalogs, price lists, product sheets, spec sheets).
  • Notifications: email alerts when sync runs complete, with reports on records processed per channel
  • Output delivery: generated files available for download, or pushed to a DAM or distribution channel

Pagination continues to expand its ecosystem of native connectors to meet the evolving needs of its customers.

Pagination's Native PIM Connectors

Plytix is Pagination’s first native PIM partnership. The connector gives direct sync between a Plytix product database and Pagination’s document generation engine.

It works in both directions: product data flows in from Plytix, and generated catalogs, PDFs, and InDesign files can be synced back to Plytix for centralized asset management and distribution. No intermediate files. No manual export cycles.

Pagination has extensive production experience with Salsify through custom API connectors, powering automated catalog generation at scale across multiple industries.

We’re now
formalizing this into a native connector. If you use Salsify today, you don’t have to wait: the custom integration is production-ready and deployed with customers processing 100K+ SKUs per run.

No Native Connector for your PIM?

No problem. Pagination’s custom integration team builds API connectors and data pipelines for any system that can export structured data or expose an API. That includes PIM, ERP systems, DAM platforms, and multi-source scenarios that go beyond what a single PIM connector covers.

Use a different PIM? Every native integration starts from real customer needs. Let us know what you use!
